Norway Part 2

Norway Part 2

Trondheim

A very nice city. We were only there for a short time on our way north. Because larger crowds are not our thing. In spite of everything, a few pictures and our highlight in Trondheim. H2 Barber & Sons, Kongens Gate 8 7010 Trondheim. Also available on Instagram. The coolest place I’ve seen for a long time. Because, there I saw a deer hanging on the wall, totally reminiscent of the Jägermeister advertisement.

I sit in Max and look out over the bay and mountains of Hovden, at the end of the 7656, in the Moloveien. Small fishing boats go in and out. Recently a sea otter walked across the path to the beacon. We are waiting for the midnight sun. The water of the Atlantic foams in some places. The sure indicator for schools of fish. Petra and I can hardly understand our luck. Heaven on earth has come true for us. The way here was lined with steep high mountains that line up with countless small peaks on the sides of the fjords.

The areas overgrown with vegetation are bursting with green. The paths are lined with purple seas of flowers. Andreas from Stavanger asked me: “You have already been around a bit, where is the nicest”? I answered him: “There where my wife is”. The places we have visited in Lofoten come pretty close to Petra. Here, too, it is difficult to capture the whole thing photographically. But see for yourself.

Petra and the struggle with table technology.

Anyone who knows my mouse knows what a great girl she is. There is almost nothing that cannot be managed. However, our table frame drives her crazy.

Landy meeting in somewhere.

The morning we wanted to leave our first base camp in Norway, Atila, from Oslo, introduced himself with his Defender. He offered to contact him if we needed help. We boarded the Lofoten with the southernmost ferry. We left it with the northernmost one. On the last island, my first navigational officer (I remember only one) gave me the choice of going west or east of the ridge to the port. I wanted to go east first, but then decided on the western route,

There was an icy wind from the north-west, but I wanted the sun to illuminate the picturesque landscape. Nonsense, I didn’t want to be a wimp in front of my darling.

We’re driving along a rock face, there aren’t two Defender130 standing in a holding bay. They see us and wave. I immediately activate the Defender Meet and Greet protocol. It is always amazing what Max can do. We chat in the storm for almost an hour. I tell you the story of Atila, from the beginning in Norway, and that like you, he is also from Oslo. Then someone asks, “Does he have an unusual name?” Yes, Atila, I answer. The world is a village. We know that too. I texted him this morning, I tell. I’ll take a picture and send it to him. It’s crazy, you are 2000km away from Oslo and meet strangers who know the same people. Somehow there is something eerie about it. Others take it as the subject of a novel.

We study the weather data and decide to use the beautiful weather at the North Cape. We need 10 hours for 480 km. On August 2nd, 2020 at 7:20 pm we reached the northernmost point of Europe. Congratulations Max!
